Getting started at Mahjong Studio

A first-visit guide for learning what to expect, choosing a beginner path, and finding a table.

Getting started

Mahjong Studio is a place to learn, play, and connect through classes, open play, events, tournaments, and member benefits. If you are new to the studio or new to Mahjong, start by choosing the path that matches your comfort level instead of trying to book the first available table.

A beginner class is the clearest starting point when you want guided instruction, table etiquette, tile basics, and time to ask questions. Browse the Classes page first when you want a slower pace, a teacher-led format, or help deciding whether Mahjong Studio is a good first place to learn.

Open play is a better fit when you already know the basics, want a social table, or are ready to practice with other players. Review each session card before booking: type, date and time, access badge, member or public price, available seats, and whether the next action is booking, waitlist, or sign-in.

Create or sign in to an account when you are ready to book, join a waitlist, manage membership, or see member-only account pages. Public visitors can still review public sessions, classes, events, shop or preorder information, and contact options before creating an account.

Guest access works best for trying a public session, attending a public event, or asking about a private group. Membership is the better path when you want member-only access, included member sessions when available, priority registration, and member pricing where the studio offers it.

For a first visit, arrive with the session or class name, start time, and booking state you saw in the app. If the page asks you to sign in, complete sign-in and return to the same flow rather than starting a second booking in another tab. Contact the studio when the page does not answer a first-visit question, when you are choosing between membership and guest access, or when you need help with a private event, accessibility need, or account setup issue.
