Mahjong 101: Beginner Class New to Mahjong? This is the perfect place to start! Mahjong 101 is designed for true beginners who want to learn the basics in a welcoming, relaxed, and encouraging environment. We’ll walk you through the tiles, the National Mah Jongg League card, basic rules, game flow, and beginner-friendly strategies so you can start playing with confidence. No experience is needed, and we’ll supply everything you need for class. You’ll learn: How to identify the tiles How to read the NMJL card The basic flow of American Mahjong How to choose a hand When and how to call tiles Beginner table etiquette and common terms Simple tips to help you feel more confident at the table Mahjong can feel intimidating at first, but it doesn’t have to be.
